Characteristics / Softshell fabrics

Windproof fabrics are widely used in windbreakers and cycling jackets. They are also used in the defense and aerospace industries to produce special suits. Windproof fabrics are also very popular in the production of sports/outdoor clothing. Materials such as polyester, nylon or acrylic are laminated with ultra-thin membranes that block air flow. The properties of these fabrics can be further improved depending on the application. Windproofness means that the clothing will provide a barrier against air penetration through the material and protect against excessive cooling of the skin. However, it also means that this clothing can become practically "non-breathable" due to the special membranes applied to its surface. Therefore, depending on the purpose of the clothing, windproof fabrics will have slightly different characteristics.

Windproof fabrics for sportswear production

One of the most important features to look for in outdoor sportswear is its breathability. The more breathable the material, the drier and warmer the athlete will remain during physical activity. Tannins for such clothing also have "moisture-wicking" properties. The weather conditions in which the athlete will exercise are particularly important. Generally speaking, the more waterproof and windproof the clothing, the less breathable it will be. Softshell fabrics are the ideal solution. Clothing made of technology will effectively protect against wind and rain while maintaining thermal comfort. It is characterized by high vapor permeability and waterproof parameters. Softshell usually consists of two layers - polar fleece, which will provide optimal temperature and a densely woven, windproof layer that protects against wind while maintaining adequate breathability.
